In developing the Report, the company followed the internationally recognized guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). This standard requires companies to report on the basis of indicators that apply to business activities as a whole and to the Company’s actions in relation to (among others) its employees, clients, value chain, environment and community.
The Report, prepared for the period from October 1, 2010 until September 30, 2011, presents descriptive information on Nidera’s global business though quantitative information is limited to the activities in the Netherlands and Argentina. It is structured by our commitments to our stakeholders and follows those pillars on which the company’s CSR Framework, NIDERA VALUES, is build. At the same time, this framework is the foundation of the Company’s related policies, Code of Conduct and Community initiatives and programs.
The latter are principally striving to generate a positive impact on neighboring communities, while focusing on the quality of education for children and promoting youth employability (chapter referring to “Our Community”). The chapter referring to “Our People” reflects, among others, on our employees, human and professional development and the creation of a safe and healthy workplace. Significant issues in this report are included in the chapter related to the value chain which reflects, on stage by stage basis, on the network of business partners, including both suppliers and clients and the steps taken by the Company to consolidate such relations. As to environmental protection, the Report provides information on the certifications obtained and results in reducing energy and water consumption and waste disposal.
Publishing as such, while following the GRI guidelines, provides the opportunity of informing on Nidera’s commitments to its stakeholders, sharing the steps taken and reflecting on future challenges. At the same time, we recognize that there is still much work to be done and that the road to sustainable development is long, complex and full of challenges.
